Quilting for utilitarian purposes has been a tradition in Estill County since its founding in 1808. The tradition of hand piecing and hand quilting the quilt sandwich was passed from generation to generation and was still used primarily for utilitarian purposes. With new conveniences, sewists began using sewing machines to craft the quilts featured in our 2026 Quilt Show at the historic Mack Theater lobby.

There will be approximately fifty quilts on display, along with other quilted fiber art pieces. This show is a collaboration with members of the Rather Bee Quilting quilt club.

Our quilt show will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, 2026; from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Mack is located at 108 Main Street in Irvine, KY and will take place during the annual Mountain Mushroom Festival. There will be no fee for entry, but donations to The Mack rehabilitation project will be accepted.
