Have you got a show-stopping image that you could enter in the Photography Contest? The contest is a way to show off that ‘second in time’. A time that cannot be captured again.   

2026 Contest Details

Contest Rules

1. Photograph must have been taken in Kentucky. Extra consideration made to images taken in eastern Kentucky and images including morel mushrooms.

2. Only two entries per person. High resolution images accepted by email only in JPG format. Email should include entrant’s name, address, phone number, category, and when image was taken. Digital entries only.

3. Top entries of each category will be printed and hung in the Holla Holler window during the festival. All the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category will be posted on the Mountain Mushroom Festival facebook page.

4. The MMF Photo Contest is judged by professional photographers from the area. First place winners are also featured in the Estill County Tribune and win a $50 prize.

Judging

Entries will be judged on a point system. Criteria are focus, exposure, lighting, distance, composition, and appeal. Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges. Judges’ decisions are final.

1. Under 18 – Cash prize of $50 for 1st place, blue rosette, bragging rights

2. Over 18 – Cash prize of $50 for 1st place, blue rosette, bragging rights

3. Top photos to be featured on the Mountain Mushroom Festival Facebook Page.
