Mushroom Cook Off
The Mushroom Cook- Off is open to all cooks who desire to create a dish using fresh
mushrooms of any variety. Perhaps you have a family recipe that has been handed down from one generation to the next. Maybe you have a recipe you have used so many years you can’t remember where or how you got it. Or, do you have a recipe you developed yourself? Share your talents. The winners will receive a locally crafted artisan item and bragging rights.
Saturday, April 25 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Mushroom Market Tent - Corner of Broadway and Court Street
Entries will be accepted from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Judging begins at 1:00 pm, Winners will be announced at 1:45 pm
Adult and youth winners will be awarded a festival rosette, bragging rights, and a locally crafted artisan item from an Estill Arts Council member.
2026 Contest Details
Rules:
1. Entries must contain any variety of FRESH mushrooms (examples; morel, shiitake,
oyster, button, etc.).
2. Submit a card with the following information: name, address, phone number, and name
of recipe.
3. Submit a readable/legible copy of the recipe.
Categories:
• Youth (13 to 17 years)
• Adult (18 and over)
Judging:
Entries will be judged on a point system. Criteria are presentation, taste, use of mushrooms, and recipe. Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges selected by the Mountain Mushroom Festival. Judges’ decisions are final.
